SHOW ME THE SOUND-ΑΚΟΥ ΝΑ ΔΕΙΣ
Ακου να δεις is a project inspired by a simple Greek phrase that translates to "listen to hear."
Every one of the four students created three different soundscapes, the project blends field recordings captured across Athens with original music to build immersive soundscapes.
Our goal was to portray the city as we experience it: raw, vibrant, sometimes chaotic, sometimes still. We wanted to slow down, tune in, and invite others to see Athens not just with their eyes, but through sound.
Every soundscape tells a piece of the city's story — from the rhythm of footsteps on marble to the distant echo of conversations at a café.
Ακου να δεις is our way of sharing how we hear the life, the soul, and the everyday beauty of Athens.
SOUNDSCAPES
These soundscapes were created as a way to capture different shades of life in Athens — moments of movement, memory, and everyday connection. Here is a description of the soundscapes that I created.
Destinations is built from field recordings taken at train stations across the city. It reflects the constant rush of daily life, but invites listeners to slow down, breathe, and appreciate the journey rather than just the destination.
Melancholia was recorded at a busy downtown crossroad. The first half of the piece flows naturally, but in the second half, every sound is reversed, giving the sense of stepping backward in time, caught in the longing to relive a moment over and over again.
Everyday Life captures the raw energy of local street markets with almost no added effects. It’s a simple, honest portrait of the sounds we often overlook — the familiar textures that quietly shape our daily routines.
Together, these soundscapes offer a way to listen deeper: to hear not just the noise of the city, but the emotion and stories hidden inside it.
